First Graduation

And the karate adventure continues:)... today the boys had their first "graduation" to a new belt. (there are actually several belts WITHIN each belt). Basically they go from a solid white belt to a white belt with a yellow stripe. Joel's has one yellow stripe, indicating that he is a Mighty Dragon and Grant's has two yellow stripes, indicating he is a Mighty Tiger (3.5 year and under).

Here they are demonstrating the moves they need to do to earn their new belt.

Grant getting his new belt...

And Joel awaiting his yellow-striped belt.

I have to say, this karate place runs a smooth operation (which they should for how much they charge), but I also have to say I am a sucker for hearing the boys say "Yes, Sir" to their instructors and repeating phrases about "respect" and "good listening" when they are asked to by their instuctors. Nothing wrong with a little of that!

It WAS hot!

I believe both Monday and Tuesday hit 100 degrees! There really wasn't much one could do besides swim and be wet. It was perfect weather for that. We weren't really ready for the beach yet, so instead we headed to Walmart to get a cheapy pool and set up the sprinkler as well. The boys had a blast alternating between riding bikes/scooters in the driveway and jumping in the pool all day long. We had our friends Ashlyn and Andrew over early in the day and headed out to swim again in the afternoon and again after dinner. Now today it is like 60 degrees and breezy, so no pool for today.

End of Preschool Program

Dressed up and ready to go, Joel didn't even argue a bit about wearing a nice shirt and pants for his preshool program, he was actually a little proud about it. (note: this type of clothing is WAY out of his comfort zone)

I was proud of how Joel participated in the songs and seemed to be enjoying himself.

Diploma for finishing preschool Year #1 :)

Joel and his teacher Mrs. Hohol, cute!

June 3rd

More birthday celebrations. This time is was ice cream and presents for Mitch at our little family celebration. Note, he had LOTS of help with the presents.
Mitchell's birthday surprise was tickets to go the Motley Crue/Poison concert with his dad at the end of he month. Here he is figuring out what the envelope is all about.
