Lincoln is 7 and Jayna is 4!!

And we got to celebrate with them of course! Party themes this year for Aunt Katie to tackle... Hello Kitty (easy, Jayna, thank you!), and Bakugan (NOT so easy). Seriously, have you ever tried drawing a dragon onto a cake!? Seriously though, we had a great time celebrating with them, and eating Terri's killer homemade Chipotle burritos. num!!

New Boots

We had a half an hour to kill today, while Mitchell was at his guitar lesson, so I thought it would be fun to put on the rubber boots on and find some puddles at the church where Mitchell's lesson was... (ok, I thought it would be fun AND I really wanted pictures of these new boots Gma Jane bought them last week). haha. They both loved it, but what I really should have gotten pictures of was the part where it was time to leave, and they were both soaked in muddy water. I hadn't thought that far ahead, I guess, as to how I was going to get them home without destroying the carseats. I ended up cranking the heat up in the car, taking all their clothes off (except for the shirt under their jackets)... however, the going home with no pants idea... did NOT go over well with either one of them. Live and learn. But hey, for cute pictures with crazy cute boots... it was well worth it, right...

Happy Birthday to Mom :)

Thanks Mom, for hosting a little birthday lunch on Sunday, for my 32nd birthday. It was fun to hear Joel sing to me for the first time (picture above) and it was nice to see my sister (and meet her boyfriend as well)! My birthday was actually today and Jeff and the boys got me flowers and a gift card to Maurices. I also received a pretty necklace from my mom as well as some money to spend on some much needed music downloads to support my new running hobby. Other than that, it was a great "normal" day, which are my favorite kind. We had some good friends over for lunch and even did some playing in the mud puddles while Mitchell was at his guitar lesson (see post above). Yikes!

Yikes!

I know, I know, way too disturbing, but I must do my job and allow the blog to document, so here are the pictures of Jeff's ankle. Actually, one of the pictures above is Jeff's and one is Brett Favre's after the NFC championship game (at Jeff's request I am comparing the 2 side by side). :) Either way, I would say Jeff's ankle is in seriously rough shape. The injury occurred last Thursday morning during an AM basketball game, and he has yet to put any weight on it (he's on crutches) and this is what it looks like tonight. Yikes! And I must say, my caretaker skills are being put to the test, but I think I'm getting better after a few days to get used to the idea that my husband needs my help to do ordinary tasks. Of course, it does help a little that the 2 little guys are up in Hibbing with Grandpa and Grandma this week... the next adjustment will be when they get home and Jeff still can't walk....

First and Last

I am not sure how a looonngg Minnesota winter can go by so fast that a week ago Sunday when we took the littly guys sledding, it was really our first and last time of the year! Joel had gotten out a couple other times with grandpa or at daycare, but considering how much he LOVES it, I wish we would have gone more. Hopefully next year Grant will be a little more into the whole outside thing, because this year he definitely was not. By the end of this sledding outing, Joel was hauling his sled up the hill and going down entirely by himself. sometimes on his hands and knees at the top of the hill trying so hard to get back up. He really did a GREAT job.

Jeff, attemping to talk Grant into going down the hill.
He did it, but that was the last time.

Joel and his little buddy that was at the hill with us, he is in the air in this picture!

Back up the hill.

Grant was a much bigger fan of the park near the hill.

Buddies

Mitchell and a couple of his buddies last weekend at a sleepover, at our place. Between the hair and the interesting decor in our basement, these pics look like they are from that 70s show or something :) And, it only took 5 frozen pizzas for dinner and 5 boxes of mac n cheese for lunch to feed these guys. (Okay, we ate some of the pizza and mac too, but still!)

Quick Story

Tuesday morning, 8:40am, time to leave the house... Joel and Grant playing (noisily, but nicely) in the living room. I say "Okay, Joel and Grant, it's time to get our jackets on and get going". Joel replies, "No, not yet mom". Grant followed "Not yet, mom". This was about the third time I had asked them to come get their jackets on, so this time I said "Okay, but mommy is leaving now." The both say, "bye-bye". So, I go into the mudroom and open and close the door loudly to pretend I am leaving. Then, I wait to hopefully hear them get up and come and make sure I didn't leave, but instead I hear Grant say "Oh, mommy go to work", and Joel says "Ooo-tay", and they continue playing. Clearly this wasn't working so I walked back into the living room, defeating and gather up my two monkeys...
